The 14th China International Cartoon & Animation Festival was successfully held

The 14th China International Cartoon & Animation Festival (CICAF) just been successful held from Apr. 26th to Apr. 28th in 2018. The brand event “C.A.K.E. TALK” Forum, which was co-organized by IEACI, continuing gain a lot of attentions.

“C.A.K.E. TALK” Forum series is a featured brand launched in 2017, for which take the initialism of four words “Creative, Animation, Knowledge, Exchange” as “C.A.K.E.”. The 14th CICAF “C.A.K.E. TALK” was also held for 3 days (April 26–28), at CICAF main venue White Horse Lake Jianguo Hotel and China Academy of Art, as an exhibition of innovative ideas collisions among professionals with contents around animated films, series, games, cartoon, derivatives, TV & broadcast, academy, painting, design, dancing, CG, publication, and other new topics of pan-entertainment industry.

This year, “C.A.K.E. TALK” is divided into three major sections: Young, Master and Edu, which hopes to build a cross-border communication platform for all the participants of pan-entertainment industries. Via annual regular activities, “C.A.K.E TALK” brought together professionals who are willing to share experience, to break discipline barriers, to introduce achievements, to open up public vision, and to create a real atmosphere of communication.

Guest speakers of “C.A.K.E. TALK” Master including the academy award-winning director of Coco, vice president, producer and editor of Pixar Animation Studios, Lee UNKRICH; Creator of “Hatsune Miku”, board chairman of Crypton Future Media, Hiroyuki ITOU; co-founder, joint CEO and producer of Magic Light Pictures, Michael ROSE; chief animator and design painter of Loving Vincent, Dominika HOFMAN and Łukasz GORDON; director of The Breadwinner, co-founder and creative director of Cartoon Saloon, Nara TWOMEY and the digital effects supervisor of Blade Runner 2049 from London Double Negative, Mike STILLWELLl. Each guest speaker delivery a keynote speech to share their professional works to the audiences and most of the attendees are industry professionals.

For the “C.A.K.E. TALK” Young and Edu, more than ten guest speakers share their inspired ideas to the public audience.

On April 28, the “C.A.K.E. TALK” Edu themed as “Animation Educators Salon (AES)”, as one of the most important part for the 14th CICAF International Animation Education Series Forum, was launched at the branch meeting of Xiangshan campus of China Academy of Art. It was initiated by education staff in the department of animation and industry organizations that are interested in promoting the development of animation education. It is based on the network of international associations in China. The establishment of “AES” is mainly for the purpose of uniting education power of front-line animation and building a national education industry exchange platform. On this basis, “AES” will build cross-regional and cross-border connectivity.

Besides “C.A.K.E. TALK” Edu , the International Education Series Forum also include The 4th China (Hangzhou) International Youth Animation Biennale and it was held at the China Academy of Art. This year’s Biennale invited international and domestic famous Animation experts and scholars to participate in series activities like seminars, forums, workshops, animation film screenings, etc. Many excellent animations were shown live, including the Breadwinner and Have a Nice Day.

Listen to the dialogues among masterminds and draw inspiration from the wits of the professionals. Over hundreds of experts, scholars, veteran professionals and animation fans participate in the Forum with different topics where sparks of thoughts bursting. China International Cartoon & Animation Industry Summit forums are annual grand gatherings for distinguished guests and masters in this field.

In the future, IEACI will continue focus on the animation education area and would like to invite more people to join the Animation Educator Salon to contribute to the animation industry.
