Graduation Festival
This summer, an international group of more than 200 Bachelor’s and Master’s students will complete their studies at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK). They will be presenting their work during the official Graduation Festival featuring expositions, performances and film screenings.Students will be graduating in the fields of ArtScience, Fine Arts, Graphic Design,  Interactive/Media/Design, Interior Architecture & Furniture Design, Photography, Textile & Fashion, MA Artistic Research, MA ArtScience, MA Interior Architecture(INSIDE) and MA Type & Media. One student will graduate in the Postgraduate course Industrial Design.

Salone Internazionale del Mobile Milano, 2015

A selection of these graduation projects will be included in the KABK’s presentation at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan in April 2015. During this year’s edition, the presentation BACK STAGE ON STAGE was a huge success, drawing 35,000 visitors and a visit from Jet Bussemaker, the Dutch Minister of Education, Culture and Science. It received rave reviews in the international media and from visitors alike.

Fashion show

On 21 June, graduating students in the Textile and Fashion department presented their work in a sold-out fashion show held at the Atrium of The Hague’s City Hall. They will show their collections to the general public once again during the Graduation Festival.

Publishing House
Graphic Design department alumni will be working around the clock during the festival in the Publishing House, a printing installation that prints graduation catalogues on demand. This new technology makes it possible to incorporate the very latest material in the catalogues every day. Apart from providing insight into the production process, visitors also get the chance to take a unique copy home with them.

Preview & award ceremony
Students, faculty and staff will hold a special preview for press and VIPs at 4pm on Friday, 11 July. Academic award nominees and winners will be announced during an award ceremony. KABK Director Marieke Schoenmakers will present the official Graduation Festival opening.

Royal Academy of Art The Hague
The Royal Academy of Art, The Hague is an academy for Fine Arts and Design and offers Bachelor’s, Master’s, Postgraduate courses, PhD’s in close cooperation with the University Leiden and preparatory courses.

The Royal Academy of Art trains students to become self-aware artists and designers, able to make a meaningful contribution to their discipline and to society by means of their passion, deep expertise and experimental approach.

Research plays an important role in all curricula offered by the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague. Artists and designers who have graduated from our academy position themselves as research-based artists and relate as such to their discipline and to society. During the course of study students will consistently be confronted with their environment. We invite the art world into the academy and search for confrontations with our audience. But we also engage in relations with partners who operate outside the cultural field. These forms of collaboration are an important link between the academy and society and require the entrepreneurial skills of our students. The Royal Academy of Art prepares its students for an international professional practice. For this reason we use both English and Dutch as the language of instruction. We maintain contacts with institutions all over the world. Students participate in exchange programmes and internships abroad and we annually welcome many students who study at our academy for the duration of one or two semesters. This international orientation is reflected in the composition of our academic community. With students coming from more than 60 countries every student learns to think internationally and interculturally as a matter of course.
