18 – 19th September 2014, Arts University Bournemouth will host the VaroomLab Illustration Symposium on the theme of Interpretation.
This two-day event will explore notions of interpretation, reinterpretation, and misinterpretation within illustration practice and debate. This event aims to investigate and celebrate the potential, creative strategies, and possibilities for practitioners to move minds, challenge norms and influence the ways in which we the see the world and connect with it.
Presentations will explore a range of themes including cross-disciplinary and cross cultural exchange, error and glitch in contemporary practice, gender representations, and audience interpretations of illustration. Alongside the main presentations will be a series of workshops, panel discussions, and events. On the first day, conversation will continue at an evening social in Bournemouth.
